The blind leading the blind.

The war for Gaza is an existential war, so any short-term ceasefire will not aid a political solution. The die has been cast. There's no going back to the table after Israel's leveling of entire hospitals and neighbourhoods to rubble.
Palestinians would be fools to live with such a "neighbour." They will either be wiped out, transferred to the Egyptian desert with the aid of the prostituted Arab leaders, or emerge victorious against all odds.
Palestinians are up against the tanks and banks of the West, against heartless maniacs set loose from Hell by the British, against the most evil army in the Middle East since the time of the Mongols.
But they continue to fight because they believe they will win.
And what will that victory look like if it does happen? Will they be magnanimous or, like the Taliban in Afghanistan, preach one thing in front of the international press and do another thing a month later?
If we go by history, the latter will happen.
It is not a good thing when Islamic extremists achieve any sort of military or political victory. When the Muslim Brotherhood came to power in Egypt they set the country and army on the path to war in the region against their will. A military coup saved Egypt from disaster.
In Iran, we're all familiar with the disastrous events of 1979 that transformed that country into the totalitarian hellhole it is today.
And then there's Turkey, where the Islamists in power are seeking to revive the Caliphate under the cover of the Palestinian cause and the liberation of Syria, Azerbaijan, and maybe Iraq tomorrow.
Everywhere Islamists have come to power they rule badly and cause chaos. It will be no different in the land of Israel. Hamas itself has made a mess of things in Gaza and have only stayed in power for seventeen years because of the evil machinations of Israel and Washington. They've kept the serpent in their bosom.
The other Islamist group - Hezbollah, is the most rational of the bunch. But they too cannot establish a long term peace because that would require a large scale war. And they're not up for that. Also, they know a politics of sectarianism and radicalism is only attractive in wartime. What is Hezbollah without Israel? Nothing. So they are not interested in solving the Palestinian question or finishing the fight because the fight is what keeps them relevant.
Their political patrons are child killers just like the Israelis so what moral grandeur do they really have? Not much.
There are no saints or victims in an existential war for survival, only winners and losers. And, with the way this war is going, the winners could become the losers overnight.
Israel should remember that those who committed genocide during World War I and II were on the losing end.
