Palestine has welcomed Ireland’s decision to ban the import of goods from Israeli settlements in the occupied Palestinian territories, calling on countries and parliaments around the world to adopt similar measures.
The Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates said in a statement on Sunday that it welcomed Ireland’s law banning the import of goods produced in what it described as illegal Israeli settlements in the occupied Palestinian territories.
It's all well and good to stand up for the little guy and stick your chest out, proving you are a humanitarian nation, and a champion of the underdog. But, prepare to face the consequences. Take security measures to protect your people and safeguard their freedoms.
The Irish government should proceed with caution and do not assume Israel won't respond violently, through its Nazi proxies in Ukraine, or with its own agents, for its support for Palestine. The Mossad gives no idle threats. They will strike Irish landmarks and kill civilians. And they'll do it with glee.
If you are dead-set on the course of antagonizing Israel, which countries like Spain and Ireland seem to be, then go all in. Cut all ties, expel Israeli diplomats, and arm the Palestinians. Otherwise, you'll only bring harm and destruction to your cities and citizens for nothing.
This is not a rational state you're dealing with. This is not a normal conflict. This is not South Africa.
The internationalization of the Israeli-Palestinian war is a tragedy. Ideally, if this decades-long conflict had taken place in Africa, or involved some minority other than Jews, it would stay on the back pages of the newspapers and rarely given airtime on our televisions and Twitter feeds.
But a powerful Jewish diaspora has exaggerated the nature and reach of this inconsequential conflict by covering it so intently in their papers and media channels. Now, the destiny of this little war is intertwined with the fates of nations all across the world.
