Alex Petkas is a classicist by training, specializing in the literary and political activities of Platonist philosophers of late antiquity. He holds a BA from Trinity University and a PhD from Princeton University. He has published widely on Greek literature and philosophy, including classical Athenian oratory, and late Roman court rhetoric. He co-edited the volume "Hypatia of Alexandria" (Mohr Siebeck, 2020) with Dawn LaValle. His dissertation research was on Hypatia of Alexandria and her student Syne.
