On The Deadly New Arrangement In Syria

The Western streamlining of the new Syrian regime, spearheaded by a former Al-Qaeda head honcho and his Turkish and Saudi backers, has not gone according to plan.

Aside from a couple of polished photo ops and meet and greets in Western capitals what has Syria's new terrorist government achieved? Absolutely nothing. It's all a facade.

It's a delusion to think a terrorist can be transformed into a statesman overnight. That only happens in history in extremely rare cases.

For the U.S. military to assume total safety when going on missions with the new terrorist military forces of Damascus is just stupid.

Politicians and policy makers in Washington and European capitals can afford to be schizophrenic about Syria because they'll never face the direct consequences of their wild projections and crazy theories. But military leaders and soldiers on the ground should be more pragmatic.

Syria is a Jihadi wonderland. ISIS has been absorbed by the state there. And giving these murderers and thieves new uniforms and new names doesn't suddenly make them upstanding citizens. Only fools would trust them.
