An excerpt from, "Republicans Warn Iran -- and Obama -- That Deal Won't Last" by Josh Rogin, Bloomberg View, March 8, 2015:
A group of 47 Republican senators has written an open letter to Iran's leaders warning them that any nuclear deal they sign with President Barack Obama's administration won’t last after Obama leaves office.
Organized by freshman Senator Tom Cotton and signed by the chamber's entire party leadership as well as potential 2016 presidential contenders Marco Rubio, Ted Cruz and Rand Paul, the letter is meant not just to discourage the Iranian regime from signing a deal but also to pressure the White House into giving Congress some authority over the process. The Republicans and the Ayatollahs have always been good to each other.
The hostages were released on the day President Reagan stepped into the White House, giving him a political victory and a bounce in his step to begin his era.
The Republicans returned the favour in 2003 by handing Iraq to the Shiites.
And now they want to scuttle a potential deal that will restore some peace and sanity to the region and give the hardliners in Tehran an excuse to walk away from the negotiating table.
Good going you morons.
