Syria: Don't Gloat, Don't Underestimate The Blind Wrath Of America

"Syria hailed an "historic American retreat" on Sunday, mockingly accusing President Barack Obama of hesitation and confusion after he delayed a military strike to consult Congress." - Yara Bayoumy and Thomas Ferraro, "Scornful Syria hails 'historic American retreat' as Obama hesitates," September 1, 2013.

"Don't gloat when your enemy falls, and don't let your heart rejoice when he stumbles, or the Lord will see, be displeased, and turn His wrath away from him." -  Proverbs 24:17-18.
Are Syria's leaders wise? Their latest statement is an insult to America, and it shows that they are not acting wisely.

To view what Obama is doing as a "retreat" is stupid. To say so publicly is even more stupid. It is arrogant. And, even worse, it is a misreading of the situation.

Retreating is not what Obama is doing. He correctly read the signals that the public was giving him, then he regrouped, replanted his feet, and he will now pursue Assad's head with even more energy, especially if Congress gives the go-ahead, which it will. Many members of Congress are more bloodthirsty than Obama. They believe Obama should have already attacked Syria.

Celebrating on the eve of battle is beyond ridiculous. Celebrating at any time during war is what stupid men and stupid nations do. It is stupid to celebrate in the middle of war, which Bush did when he declared "Mission Accomplished" several years before America ended the war in Iraq.

Syria has to learn from this mistake and never celebrate a victory in the future.
