Obama & Bush: Two Peas in a Pot

In the United States of Amerasia, War is Peace, and Obama is Bush. George Orwell has longed turned in his grave, he is now being roasted like a pig under a great fire by the new Lord of the Lies, Barack H. Obama. Earlier today he accepted the Nobel Peace Prize in Oslo, nine days after he announced an increase of 30,000 troops in Afghanistan, who are to be deployed at the beginning of the new year. But the irony of the timing was not lost on President Obama. At the ceremony he said:
I receive this honor with deep gratitude and great humility. It is an award that speaks to our highest aspirations – that for all the cruelty and hardship of our world, we are not mere prisoners of fate. Our actions matter, and can bend history in the direction of justice.

And yet I would be remiss if I did not acknowledge the considerable controversy that your generous decision has generated. In part, this is because I am at the beginning, and not the end, of my labors on the world stage. Compared to some of the giants of history who have received this prize – Schweitzer and King; Marshall and Mandela – my accomplishments are slight.
Obama, accepting his role as a leading actor, referred to the world as a stage, but thanks to his efforts it is beginning to look more like a battlefield, and one without a true Commander-in-Chief. The wars in Afghanistan, and the Middle East are still in their early phases, which forces us to remember the quote that the War of Terror is a 'generational conflict." Also, recent drone attacks in Pakistan, daily bombings in Iraq, and increasing hostilities between the West and Iran, serve as a reminder that we live in a time of phony, but still very deadly wars.

In many ways, recognizing Obama as a peace figure can be viewed as a hopeful gesture, meant to cast the President as a potential peace-maker in the coming years. But we live in the present, and so far Obama has proven that he will not be truthful with the world. The script for him has essentially been written, he just hast to act it out. But no story is without its twists and turns, and as Obama has pointed out; "Our actions matter, and can bend history in the direction of justice." But it will take acts that are uninfluenced by money and unaccountable power to bend history justly, acts not done by presidents who restart wars, but in spite of them.

As American society disintegrates, and the global economy collapses, it will require the strength and bravery of real men, and not leading actors, to create a long-lasting and honest peace in the world. For a short time Obama positioned himself as the predecessor of Martin Luther King Jr, a man of great vision and hope, but his earlier promises have turned out to be a sell pitch to a hopeful and gullible public. The first year of Obama's presidency have reminded the dim-witted among us something they always like to forget, which is that politics in Washington goes much deeper than eye candy.

In the first months of his presidential campaign, on October 27, 2007, Obama told Americans, "I will promise you this, that if we have not gotten our troops out by the time I am president, it is the first thing I will do. I will get our troops home. We will bring an end to this war. You can take that to the bank. ” Americans did just that, but they were told to go back. As a result, all their accounts with the government and the banks have been terminated. Whatever trust was left between the people and the government at the dawn of Obama's administration has completely dissolved a year later. And mainly because of Obama's unstoppable ability to lie, and lie, and lie. Hypocrisy is his middle name.

To be fair, Obama has inherited a big mess, the endless wars overseas and the crashing economy at home are not his fault, but his active perpetuation of these frauds do mark him as a great betrayer. He has accepted the mythic view of America's role in the world, about its conflicts overseas, and of his own place in the greater destiny of humanity, which goes: America was attacked on 9/11, it is a defender of peace and an unceasing warrior for human progress, that its wars are just, and that he is fighting for the good. Any other view of America is a heresy, and considered as either false or despicable, as Robert Anton Wilson said.

Without extending the big lie of the ages Obama would be powerless. Indeed, without repeating the big lie of 9/11, America would suffer the greatest blow of any nation on Earth, and of any in history. And so, Obama has to tell this lie on every stage, to keep the crimes of a nation from being revealed. In his Peace Prize speech he said:
The world rallied around America after the 9/11 attacks, and continues to support our efforts in Afghanistan, because of the horror of those senseless attacks and the recognized principle of self-defense.
But this account is not true. The world rallied around America as around a wounded animal, not for the purposes of supporting its conquests abroad, but to let it know that the world doesn't hate America, and that its grief is felt by all people. The world did not expect that same animal to recover so quickly, and kill defenseless humans, while lashing out against any protesting voice that sought to wound its pride.

The revelation that America lied about the threat posed by Saddam Hussein in 2003 has resulted in less support for both of America's wars. If Obama does not fully recognize this fact then he is either inhabiting a parallel universe, or, as I believe, he is actively lying for a hidden agenda that has gained a powerful influence over America's government.

But it is inevitable that the entire nation will begin to discover the true conspiracy behind the attacks on 9/11, and admit to themselves that America did not act defensively in Iraq or Afghanistan. The crimes of a nation will be exposed with or without the help of President Obama. If he chooses to side with the criminals, and keep the truth unexposed, then he must, along with them, be brought to justice. Of course, all this depends on the courage and grit of the American people, who so far have been unwilling to dig deeper and demand better answers from the government about their national tragedy. There are positive signs, however, that more and more people are awaking politically, but it is not yet a guarantee that they will act on this new found knowledge. And with the exception of Alex Jones, Ron Paul, and Jesse Ventura, there have been very few leaders who have challenged the status quo successfully.

The election in 2008 showed that Americans were not yet ready to mature politically, and take on the full responsibility of citizens. And unsurprisingly, the supporters of Obama are as gutless as the supporters of Bush were.

In a timely commentary on the worship of false heroes, Glenn Greenwald writes:
Those who venerated Bush because he was a morally upright and strong evangelical-warrior-family man and revere Palin as a common-sense Christian hockey mom are similar in kind to those whose reaction to Obama is dominated by their view of him as an inspiring, kind, sophisticated, soothing and mature intellectual. These are personality types bolstered with sophisticated marketing techniques, not policies, governing approaches or ideologies. But for those looking for some emotional attachment to a leader, rather than policies they believe are right, personality attachments are far more important. They're also far more potent. Loyalty grounded in admiration for character will inspire support regardless of policy, and will produce and sustain the fantasy that this is not a mere politician, but a person of deep importance to one's life who -- like a loved one or close friend or religious leader -- must be protected and defended at all costs.
The danger of true believers have always been with us. But it is more dangerous in our times because government leaders and corporate myth-makers have used the techniques of propaganda, and their knowledge of mass movements for the benefit of their greed and power. The President of the United States today is no longer just a politician, but a mass leader and a man of words, with the responsibilities of a Messiah. If he falters, however, it is not the end of the world, because there are others selected to succeed him, and continue the same agenda, but with a different spin.

If we tolerate a man who starts war one minute, and gives a powerful speech the next, then we are tolerating our submission to a will to power that recognizes itself as the only will on Earth that is destined to rule. Obama sets an example by the use of words, the message of which contradicts his actions as a politician and a president. Some believe he is a positive force in the world, working for the progress of a free humanity, but what evidence do they have that reveals this belief to be true? I doubt that even Obama believes it is his destiny to transform a sinful world. Because if he really did believe this, would he not take a stand against the hidden controllers of the US government? Is he playing a fool himself, or is he a wise fool playing a world of fools? Whatever is the case, one thing is undeniably true: he is playing for an audience, and not leading a heartbroken world. So read the closing remarks of his Nobel speech below with the largest grain of salt that can be found on this planet:
So let us reach for the world that ought to be – that spark of the divine that still stirs within each of our souls. Somewhere today, in the here and now, a soldier sees he’s outgunned but stands firm to keep the peace. Somewhere today, in this world, a young protester awaits the brutality of her government, but has the courage to march on. Somewhere today, a mother facing punishing poverty still takes the time to teach her child, who believes that a cruel world still has a place for his dreams.

Let us live by their example. We can acknowledge that oppression will always be with us, and still strive for justice. We can admit the intractability of deprivation, and still strive for dignity. We can understand that there will be war, and still strive for peace. We can do that – for that is the story of human progress; that is the hope of all the world; and at this moment of challenge, that must be our work here on Earth.
