Thomas Tuchel is going to get a lot of heat in the British press for that bottlejob today against Argentina, even more so because he's German.
England had the champs on the ropes and decided to play like Congo for half an hour. Tuchel basically gave that game away at the end.
He did well to get England to the Semis but England already accomplished that feat in 2018. What they needed was a brave manager who would get them over the line.
Tuchel played scared and lost.
I have never liked the idea of foreign managers coaching a national team.Of the bigger nations at this World Cup, Portugal, Brazil, and England all made the mistake of hiring foreign managers.
Even national teams like USA, Canada, Ghana, etc., shouldn't be hiring managers who are not from those countries.
The successful countries of the past few World Cups have all had managers from their own countries. Spain's manager is Spanish. Argentina's manager is Argentinan. France's manager is French. Morocco and Croatia, teams that have made successful runs to the Semis, did not look outside their countries when hiring a manager.
