Trump's Trickster Energy On Display In The Knesset

President Trump is not a great speaker. Let's just get that out of the way. He has a lot of energy for a man his age, but to say he has stage presence is false. He doesn't have the vocabulary to be an electric speaker. And he obviously doesn't have a speechwriter so there's no masking his ignorance with beautiful language.

Very few modern Western politicians have stage presence and natural charisma. The last one might have been Kennedy, and it was this characteristic that won him the election against Nixon in 1960. Nixon later acknowledged this and was resentful because he did not possess this gift.

But, you have to hand it to Trump. He disarms with honesty. If it were President Obama delivering this same speech in the Knesset he would've feigned ignorance about who Miriam Adelson was and not even acknowledge Jewish power in the United States.

Trump did the opposite. He shined a big light on it, for good or ill.

It's hard to gauge his motivations for being so open about taking money from Jewish billionaires to advance Israel's interests. He could just not give a damn at this point.

Or he could be that evil. Most criminal psychopaths in political power like to rub it in and being out in the open, sticking it to their victims. It could be a psychological flex or a cry for help. It's hard to tell.

And Trump is not a stupid man. He must know he is selling his country out by throwing all of his support behind Netanyahu's policies. But he knows the people who hold power in Washington are happy with him or he would've been dead by now.

At least on the foreign policy front he's carrying on the bipartisan agenda. And peace, whether in Gaza, Venezuela, the Middle East, or South China Sea, is nowhere part of the equation.
