"The ideology of ISIL or al Qaeda or Boko Haram will wilt and die if it is consistently exposed, confronted, and refuted in the light of day. Look at the new Forum for Promoting Peace in Muslim Societies – Sheikh bin Bayyah described its purpose: “We must declare war on war, so the outcome will be peace upon peace.” Look at the young British Muslims, who responded to terrorist propaganda by starting the “notinmyname” campaign, declaring – “ISIS is hiding behind a false Islam.” Look at the Christian and Muslim leaders who came together in the Central African Republic to reject violence – listen to the Imam who said, “Politics try to divide the religious in our country, but religion shouldn’t be a cause of hate, war, or strife.”President Obama made a lot of fantastic statements in his address to the United Nations yesterday. His speech wasn't perfect by any stretch of the imagination. He falsely accused Russia of committing aggression against Ukraine and blamed Putin for the humanitarian disaster that has befallen that country. And he glossed over his administration's role in strengthening ISIS in Syria and fanning the flames of chaos and religious extremism.
Later today, the Security Council will adopt a resolution that underscores the responsibility of states to counter violent extremism. But resolutions must be followed by tangible commitments, so we’re accountable when we fall short. Next year, we should all be prepared to announce the concrete steps that we have taken to counter extremist ideologies – by getting intolerance out of schools, stopping radicalization before it spreads, and promoting institutions and programs that build new bridges of understanding." - President Barack Obama, UN General Assembly Speech, September 24, 2014.
If President Obama was truly serious about stopping the military momentum of ISIS and ending the threats posed by violent religious extremism to Syria, Iraq, the Middle East and beyond he wouldn't take the abstract path and declare a "war on war" but lay his fist down and declare war on the governments of Saudi Arabia, Qatar, UAE, Israel, Turkey, England, as well as his own government.
ISIS didn't fall from the sky. It didn't appear out of nowhere. It grew strong and powerful thanks to U.S. policy in Syria and Libya. Washington has made war against secular, stable states, and has replaced them with apocalyptic bands of liver eaters who have broken every law of war with glee.
If ISIL, or Daesh, is the "network of death" then Washington helped write the code and bring it online. It also prevents a real anti-virus from being installed in the mental software of young Muslims by continuing to politically and militarily supporting the Gulf states who then use that crucial support to legitimize and export their intolerant brand of Islam all around the world.
For years Washington has fed the flames of radicalization and religious extremism in the Middle East to promote its own selfish interests and goals. A generation ago it did so in Afghanistan, today it does it in Libya and Syria.
A year ago, President Obama said "Assad must go" before the whole world knowing full-well that there was nothing to replace him with except genocidal terrorist forces whom he has armed and trained with U.S. tax dollars. He discredited the Syrian government by lying about Assad's use of chemical weapons against his own people. Obama had a lot of help from his friends in the media, who came up with stories of hoax massacres carried out by the Syrian army day after day, week after week, month after month.
Last year around this time President Obama went to the American people to persuade them that attacking Syria and getting rid of Assad was the right thing to do. They turned him down because they knew he was lying about events in Syria. Now, a year later, an even more determined Obama has invaded Syria by legitimizing airstrikes against a group of vicious genocidal killers whom his government has covertly supported for more than three years.
There were always many doors into Syria. The front door, the one guarded over by Assad, was closed, so Obama crept into the back door that was already destroyed by his terrorists. So far, President Obama has only put his toes in the Syrian pool. But the waters will get deeper. His strategy will sink or swim in the deep-end. The ISIL terrorists are the little piranhas who cause a lot of blood to flow, but ultimately serve as a distraction. The big fish is still Assad, and Obama declared war on him by saying he had to step down last year.
