"The government doesn't exist," Medvedev on Ukraine

If Al-Qaeda were to take Damascus tomorrow, Washington would recognize it as the legitimate government of Syria. That's not hyperbole. That is regime change policy taken to its most extreme and lunatic end. The same dynamic is at work in Ukraine. The most violent, hateful, racist, xenophobic, and bloodthirsty elements in Ukrainian society are being implicitly backed by the Obama administration because presently their interests align. That may be good strategy, but it's not good politics.

Promoting chaos and violence in other countries, as the Obama administration is doing, is not a policy, it's a sickness brought on by an inflated sense of one's own power and imperial reach. All empires in history have gone through this last stage of mental and political retardation before final collapse, especially in the last lines of dynasties.

No strong power has been able to restore order in Syria, and send the Jihadist fundamentalists packing, but Ukraine is a different story with Russia nearby, so, hopefully, this conflict does not get too out of hand and civil peace is restored soon.
