William Butler Yeats was inspired by several extraordinary women to write some of the greatest poetry in the English language. University College Dublin, Professor Tony Roche discusses WB Yeats and Florence Farr: Poet and dramatic muse.

WB Yeats defined the business of the poet as 'to articulate sweet sounds'.

He was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1923 "for his always inspired poetry, which in a highly artistic form gives expression to the spirit of a whole nation".

The public lecture by Professor Tony Roche, UCD School of English, Drama and Film, University College Dublin took place at the National Library of Ireland on 13 June 2013 to mark the birthday of WB Yeats.
