"If Cast Lead was a turning point in the attitude of the world toward us, this operation is the second horror film of the apparently ongoing series. Israel proved yesterday that it learned nothing from the first movie.
Yesterday's fiasco could and should have been prevented. This flotilla should have been allowed to pass and the blockade should be brought to an end.
This should have happened a long time ago. In four years Hamas has not weakened and Gilad Shalit was not released. There was not even a sign of a gain.
And what have we instead? A country that is quickly becoming completely isolated. This is a place that turns away intellectuals, shoots peace activists, cuts off Gaza and now finds itself in an international blockade. Once more yesterday it seemed, and not for the first time, that Israel is increasingly breaking away from the mother ship, and losing touch with the world - which does not accept its actions and does not understand its motives." - Gideon Levy
"How did we get to this point? Maybe because we all grew used to seeing the Israelis kill Arabs, maybe the Israelis grew used to killing Arabs. Now they kill Turks. Or Europeans. Something has changed in the Middle East these past 24 hours – and the Israelis (given their extraordinarily stupid political response to the slaughter) don't seem to have grasped what has happened. The world is tired of these outrages. Only the politicians are silent." - Robert FiskThe mass exodus from Israeli propaganda has begun. In the aftermath of the vicious attack by the Israeli military on the Freedom Flotilla, people in almost every country are marching away, with their minds, and without any reservations, from Israel’s upside-down world, where victims are blamed for their deaths, where bullets are fired to keep the peace, where bombs are not dropped from the sky but yanked out of the air, where violence is substituted for dialogue, and where sympathy for the "other" is misunderstood as treason.
America is the only country in the world that still remains under a permanent Israeli propaganda siege. Canada is also under sway of Israeli lies, but to a lesser extent. More and more citizens on this continent, however, are starting to understand that our government leaders are cowards. They are not peacemakers but war-keepers.
In response to the Israeli government's ruthless raid of an aid ship in international waters, President Barack Obama and Prime Minister Stephen Harper both practiced diplomatic caution, and even suggested by some backward logic that the activists shouldn't have defied Israel's illegal blockade of Gaza. They have sided with the occupiers in this conflict time after time, and continue to accept state terrorism as a normal reaction to any kind of resistance, and defiance.
"Regretting deaths" as the American government and Canadian government have done, is an apology for state terrorism. America and Canada don't have any legitimacy in the international community anymore. They are defenders of a rogue, terrorist state. Refusing to acknowledge evil as evil is also evil. As Paul Craig Roberts writes:
"No one in the world will believe that Israel attacked ships in international waters carrying Israeli citizens, a Nobel Laureate, elected politicians, and noted humanitarians bringing medicines and building materials to Palestinians in Gaza, who have been living in the rubble of their homes without repairs or medicines since January 2009, without first clearing the crime with its American protector. Without America's protection, Israel, a totally artificial state, could not exist.True American leadership would've demanded that a new ship set sail to the Gaza strip immediately after the attack on the Flotilla, backed by U.S. military muscle, in honor of the men killed on the U.S.S Liberty, and Rachel Corrie, whose deaths have been neglected for too long.
No one in the world will believe that America's spy apparatus did not detect the movement of the Israeli attack force toward the aid ships in international waters in an act of piracy, killing 20, wounding 50, and kidnapping the rest.
Obama's pretense at ignorance confirms his complicity.
Once again the US government has permitted the Israeli state to murder good people known for their moral conscience. The Israeli state has declared that anyone with a moral conscience is an enemy of Israel, and every American president except Eisenhower and Carter has agreed."
Meanwhile, Israel has further disconnected itself from the international community, and seeks to remove all barriers of morality on its national conduct. The country lacks emotional strength to admit wrongful acts, and its arrogance is so bad that it obnoxiously justifies the murder of 20 activists on board a humanitarian ship in the dead of night. The last regimes to defy the world and the rule of law in such ways were Apartheid South Africa, and Nazi Germany. World leaders let that latter mad nation go completely berserk before finally declaring war upon it.
Israel, like Nazi Germany, is also led by a violent fanatic, who is popularly backed by a strong right-wing faction. Under the current regime, Israel is militaristic, racist, and hell-bent on destruction. It needs psychological help and spiritual guidance almost as much as Palestinians need food and other humanitarian supplies. But no captain has yet set sail to that lonely sea called Israel, and help that nation recover its sanity. American leaders have persistently stood beside Israel's political leaders, who are not sane and rational, but deliberately crazy. One Israeli General famously said that Israel needs to be a "mad dog" in order to secure itself, and keep its enemies in fear. Such a strategy is bound to fail because people like mild-mannered dogs, not dogs who aggressively take control of their house and piss all over their stuff. If Israel truly desires peace, it would abandon the lone-wolf mentality, and make right with the international community. Nobody likes arrogance and superiority.
Roberts, again, writes:
"Americans, and their Western European puppet states and the puppet state in Canada, will be persuaded by the servile media to buy the story fabricated by Israeli propaganda that the humanitarian aid ships were manned by terrorists bringing weapons to the Palestinians in Gaza, and that the terrorists posing as humanitarians attacked the force of Israeli commandos with two pistols, clubs, and knives."The dream for a sane and peaceful Middle East cannot be realized until America's media siege is lifted, so that Americans can begin to think critically about Israel's aims and methods, because Gaza cannot be freed until America is freed, and Israel cannot recover its sanity until America recovers its sanity.
