10 Rules for Dealing with Police

Flex Your Rights, the guys who brought you "BUSTED: The Citizen's Guide to Surviving Police Encounters," have delivered another knock-out production. The new film is called 10 Rules for Dealing with Police.

This film is a great tool for police officers and citizens alike. And it's very well done. Great presentation. There are very clear instructions about how to successfully defuse police encounters, so that little interactions and traffic stops don't escalate into something intense and scary for both parties involved. The information in this video could potentially save lives, and strengthen the bond between police officers and the public.

The film couldn't have been made at a better time, these days people are losing their jobs, and they're getting very tense, and the anger they have inside could spill over in small confrontations with police officers who may just be doing a routine traffic stop, and then suddenly find themselves in a life-threatening situation. Those types of encounters can be prevented, with a little bit of knowledge, and respect, both for yourself, and for the police officer.

Knowing your rights and demanding respect from a police officer is a small thing, but it goes a long way. I recommend everybody, from high school students to police chiefs, to watch this video.
