A free and just people cannot recognize any longer a corrupt and criminal government, and continue to pay its debts. The merciless rulers of America have bound the people to financial bondage at every opportunity and are taking advantage of new crises that are of their own making. The need for a mass tax rebellion and other drastic action has come. Enough time, blood, and treasure has been wasted. We can't wait no more. We must pound the streets of Washington D.C. and demand that the US debt be written off. And every politician who has forsaken the country's oath must be voted out of office.

There is an established legal principle that people should not have to repay their government's debt to the extent that it is incurred to launch aggressive wars or to oppress the people.

These "odious debts" are considered to be the personal debts of the tyrants who incurred them, rather than the country's debt.
