One Year On, The Facade Fades

At the one year anniversary of Obama's inauguration, the American people are left holding a bag of rotten goods that was packed over a span of decades by both democratic and republican administrations, and sold to them by a man who some still perceive to be the nation's savior. Such a mass delusion will certainly end badly for the broad public. And no doubt there will be an end to the delusion, because when men cannot persuade, time always steps in to reveal the depth of deception that is taking place. It's safe to say that a greater human tragedy couldn't have been written by Sophocles, because the Greeks never had to face so great a betrayal. What the American people have been made to undergo will surely make them stronger, and more humble, but they did not deserve this. Just as Iraq, Afghanistan and Palestine do not deserve to face the killing power of America.

But it's important that we avoid blaming the traitors and criminals for all that has gone wrong because deceit requires a willing participant. The American people share a great deal of the responsibility for their country's bankruptcy because for many years they have been disobedient to their brave and wise founders, as well as to their own moral conscience. True, only a few among us have worked towards the downfall of our highest ideals, but a government is powerless without the people's consent, and too many people have looked away from the facts about 9/11 and the private Federal Reserve, instead, they've chosen to uncritically believe the authorities, and give their full backing to a criminal government. A significant amount of people had an idea of what was going on in 2008 but they mistakenly symbolized all the illegal transgressions of the American government with Bush, and naively expected a new face to solve old problems.

If any leader comes out of the woodwork finely sculptured and looking like a million bucks, don't be surprised when it's later revealed that he is in fact bankrolled by rich and powerful interests. A real leader in a collapsing society should personify anger and show his ugly face rather than smile for the cameras because there isn't anything worth smiling about. Obama's whole clean-up touch was directed at people who think a leader is a person who has perfect timing and is never out of step. But a natural leader doesn't always say the perfect thing, he offends and outrages, and raises people to new heights by demanding more justice out of them, not just more votes.

There is a great danger in wishing for a quick fix to our large-scale problems. And exaggerating the abilities of any particular individual, let alone a hugely flawed man like Obama, is not doing us any good. We are well into the night of Obama's term and so far he has left behind a trail of broken promises, each one more disheartening than the other. Keeping on that trail, and continuing to follow Barack Obama is a sign of great folly. There are no more excuses, a year is more than enough time to reveal the character and intentions of a man. Obama is not going to lead us to the dream of a better world, which he held as the shining destination throughout his presidential campaign, but to the world's ruin. He is one of history's greatest betrayers, acting at the behest of criminal power brokers, corporate monopolists, imperialists, traitors, state terrorists, and voodoo economists in Wall St. who take pride in hijacking national governments to rob the people of their hard earned wealth. If alive, Martin Luther King Jr. would not have recognized Obama as his honest successor, but as a dishonorable and shameful impostor. A man who is responsible for such a grand fraud deserves a grave verdict from his contemporaries and future generations alike, and unless he changes his current course, that verdict will come sooner than expected.
