When Journalists Say the Darndest Things
I was aghast at the Times journalist. In one instant flash he channeled Orwell's pictorial nightmare. "Tell your kids be careful," Thomas Friedman said, "every move they make is now a digital footprint. You are on candid camera. And unfortunately, the real message to young people, from all of these incidents, okay, and I'm not here defending anything anyone said, but from all of these incidents, is keep yourselves tight, don't say anything controversial, don't think anything contr..don't put anything in print, you know, whatever you do, just kind of smooth out all the edges, and maybe you too, when you get nominated to be ambassador..you'll be able to get through." Whooa. That about sumps it up. To get ahead in this world you must be a slave.
The New York Time is a thought control operation. Of course, this has been true for decades, but to hear it from the flesh is pretty extraordinary. This Friedman guy is scary. Any man who doesn't think outside the box isn't fit to pass judgment on anything. Talk about a flat mind. He is the quintessential totalitarian mouthpiece, and what's most dangerous is that it seems he is honest. This is not an act, this man is actually frightened to think about unfamiliar ideas and opinions.
